SB391,1,2
1An Act to repeal and recreate 756.30 (3) of the statutes;
relating to: persons
2who fail to attend when summoned as a juror and providing a penalty.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Currently, the maximum fine for failing to obey a summons to attend as a juror
is $40. This bill raises that maximum fine to $100 and allows the court to order the
person to perform community service instead of the fine. The bill provides that the
length of the community service may not exceed the number of hours determined by
dividing the amount of the fine by the minimum wage.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
SB391, s. 1

496-08, is repealed and recreated to read:

8the person was summoned. The number of hours of community service work
1required may not exceed the number determined by dividing the amount owed on the
2fine by the minimum wage established under ch. 104 for adults in nonagriculture,
3nontipped employment.
